Trees can grow without the necessity of any feeds given them. Perhaps, the only time you will need to give them one is upon first planting of the seedlings which you may have purchased from a nursery. The fertilizer is placed on the dig where the seedling is placed. On its first year is when the Leylandii needs much attention when it comes to watering.
